Standardizing Lean Six Sigma

By Guest Blogger on May 3, 2016

Lean Six Sigma is founded on basic principles like Lean is.  Over the course of time it has become ever apparent to Lean and Six Sigma practitioners that the two tools actually work best when used together.  MAMTC combined the two many years ago, but allow the two to be implemented in their own right.

You see, LEAN has an inter-nationally recognized provider SME.  Most everyone has heard of ASQ and recognize their effort in the area of Lean and Six Sigma.  Unlike LEAN, a lot of larger companies have chosen not to use ASQ solely for their training of their Six Sigma practitioners.  With that being said it is wide open as to what a person can receive as it relates to Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma.  The Lean and Six Sigma World Organization is attempting to resolve this dilemma.  This organization has solicited the input of Six Sigma practitioners around the world to gather a global consensus on what should be covered, how the information should be delivered and what it takes to obtain certification in Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma.

If you have been practicing Lean Six Sigma for a number of years you will be able to attest that everyone is not trained the same and requirements for certification differ as well.  Far be it for me to say that one is better or worse than the other.  I believe that if you are obtaining results that are transforming your organization then you should keep doing what you are doing.

It is encouraging to see that there might be some type of standard forthcoming, but when it will happen is anyone’s estimation.  My suggestion is that you be a part of the solution and go to the website and sign up to offer your perspective on various topics.  http://lssworld.org/
